Ordinarily five is not a big number, but it is when you put it to certain things such as the amount of adult cats you have. Pat and Toffee, brother and sister, are four years old and the children of my cat. We had to get rid of them because they have long hair and it's impossible to keep them inside. Their fur gets caught and torn on barbed wire, leaving them in a miserable state.
I was fine about getting rid of them, but when I was waiting with them in the R.S.P.C.A they were trembling and meowing piteously and I wondered if it was really necessary. Pat's meow is usually a croak that rises in pitch, but inside that building amidst the strange smells and foreign creatures he meowed like a normal cat.
So, now we are down by two. Thank goodness!
