Pride & Prejudice Ball

Last Saturday we four girls, Sam, Amy and their cousin Xenia attended a Pride & Prejudice Ball. Before we left our place we did a photo shoot of us all, except Bek (Karli and Jess were at an Engagement party, which is why they were not in these earlier photos at home. They came later.). She dressed up as 'the photographer', in ordinary clothes and wished to remain out of the photos.

Me, Xenia, Amy and Sam.

Amy, Xenia and I.

We listened to instructions a lot.

And we danced =D

And had fun.

And that concludes another immensely fun event!

Bob

For quite some time Bek has wanted to have her hair bobbed. Dad originally said that she could when she turned 18, but he changed his mind and said she could go to the hair-dressers with Jess this afternoon to have it done. Bek hesitated when she considered the cost and also last time she went to that place we didn't like what they did, so Mum offered to do it. Bek obviously agreed... and now it is done!

And in a moment her one true beauty lies at her feet :P

The Phantom of the Opera

The paino isn't really the part, but I liked these shots :)

This one is quite pretty close up. It looks like it has a snowy sort of effect.
Which one is your favourite?

Onion Rings

A little while back for a whole week I had to read one book once a day to the two little boys. The book I read was called "Night of the Moonjellies" and in it was a little boy called Mark, whose grandmother owned a fast-food shop with her sister. There was nothing particularly amazing about this shop, except that the illustrations in the book made the food look so real and gourmet, even the pop-corn looked more welcoming than usual! One thing that had me watering at the mouth was the onion rings- the description of how they were cooked was so exquisite! I have not had chance to make them until just the other day. Wow, were they a success!!!

In these photos they look somewhat more like patties rather than rings, but I think that's just because these ones didn't separate as they were cooked.

And if you should ever desire to make them, here is the recipe:

Onion Rings

Cut onions in rings. Dip in the following mixture and fry in oil. 1/2 cup flour 1/4 tsp.salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 lightly beaten egg 1/4 cup milk.

As you can tell they are really basic instructions! I was a little confused as I went through the steps, but I figured it all out with Mum's help :) If you need anything confirmed, just ask!

Happy Cooking!

Sugar Plum Fairy Earrings

I made these earrings today and Mum loves them! She said they look something like the Sugar Plum Fairy... which is exactly what I think! Surprisingly, they were not all that simple. It was a little difficult getting them to stay in place when I was twisting the wire around at the top to make them firm, but I was very pleased with the result! I got the beads (stars and petals) off a bracelet I have had hiding in my draws for years... I was glad to be able to get good use out of them :)

And these are a few pairs of other earrings I have made. On Saturday I'm going to be selling them (or trying to) at the markets. I hope I can get rid of them! I've had them hanging in my room for so long... the sight of them drives me crazy! Well, not quite :P

Karli

Today is the day that Karli turns 21. I've got a few photos of when Karli was little up and when she was older.
A few things I would like to share with you about Karli are that:

1- She is the second eldest in our family.
2- She is the first daughter and was the first to be born at home.
3- She is a midwife.
4- She is extremely generous.
5- She loves the colour purple.
6- Her favourite author is Charles Dickens.
7- She is in 8th grade piano.

You can read a bit more about Karli on Mum's blog as well as see a slideshow.

Karli is the one with the pink shirt on and the pegs in her hair :P

Next and final post coming will be of the bush dancing. It may not come for some time because most of the photos were on Sam's camera and I haven't been able to get hold of them yet, but whether it's tomorrow or next year, I will post about it :)

Karli and Mum's Party... (post the first)

On Saturday, the 3rd of October, we held a party to celebrate Karli's 21st and Mum's 40th birthday. We invited their particular friends and around 100 people came. It was held at our house and then we went to the hall up the road for the bush dancing. I shall do three parts of this epic event, the bush dancing will be last :)
