Today was Jessie's 19th birthday. She has been a wonderful sister to me and a great role model!

A Fun Game...

Some weeks ago Bek and I went out with the boys to play a game of build-ups. We used to play it all the time but as of late Bek and I haven't been. The boys were very excited when we agreed to play one afternoon; however, I missed out on the first half of the game in order to take these shots.

Lily was out with us telling where Jamie (he was 'it') had gone. She was very helpful :)

Scoubidou

When I was younger I went through a phase of doing scoubidou and bought lots of the threads and a book on how to make various things with it. It only lasted for about 2-3 months and ever since then I have had it sitting in one of my drawers doing nothing. Two days ago, out of the blue, Robert remembered about it and asked me to get it out to teach him. So I took him and Dan yesterday afternoon and attempted to show them how it works. I hadn't done it for several years, so had forgotten how. I got as far as wrapping two different coloured strands on a pencil. Anyway, after I played around with it trying all the different ways to get to the next step the boys had lost interest. They went outside to play and I struggled along without them for a long time. Then finally, I got it!

This morning I showed them the steps, but they weren't able to do it for ages. We had three going at once ~ one for each of us. As I worked on mine they practiced the pattern. Suddenly Rob yelled out "I DID IT!!" and Dan followed suit shortly after. I was very proud :) They have been at it all day; Dan, however, was obliged to pull out for now. He pulls the strands too hard and therefore snaps them, cutting the project too short.

Well, after that large explanation, I think it's time to show you the photos!

Ice-skating #2

Last night Naomi, Nath and Lara invited us older kids to go ice-skating with them. Karli wasn't able to go because the night before she had been up all night assisting at a birth and needed to rest.

We were there from 8-10 pm, and although our legs did start to ache after the 2 hours we wished it could have gone for longer!

Usually when we go ice-skating all the photos are blurry and everything looks green instead of white. Last night it was the same most of the time but the camera couldn't make up its mind as to whether the ice and background ought to be green or blue or white. So you will find a whole mixer of colours :P And also, I cheated by fixing some of the green ones on Picasa by making them white. Anyway, I hope you enjoy looking through them!

I have some more nature shots that I thought you might like to see. These were all taken about three weeks ago and you may want to see some of them bigger, the first one looks rather boring until close-up :)
